About this place
At Fokizu Sakaba in Koenji-minami, the chicken dishes are a natural place to start: chicken tataki, available in limited quantities and shipped directly from Miyazaki, and chicken grilled over charcoal until fragrant. Other hearty options include beef stir-fried with Tomura sauce, a sauce associated with Miyazaki, and pork kimchi. For smaller plates to accompany a drink, there is also smoked mackerel, potato salad with house-made cheese, and cream cheese with iburigakko—smoked and pickled daikon radish.
For a first drink, choose a set pairing a highball, shochu or tea-based drink with a half-size portion of charcoal-grilled chicken, chicken tataki or potato salad. The drinks list ranges from familiar green tea and jasmine tea highballs to beers such as Punk IPA and Heartland, bourbon highballs and original cocktails including Ananas Sour and Yuzu Mandarin.
Open from 19 in the evening until 0 late at night, the bar has a casual, music-filled atmosphere. It works for a drink at the counter or a get-together with a group.
